Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated May 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how LansPilot (“we”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, create an account, join the beta, or subscribe to updates.
1. Data we collect
- Account & auth: identifiers and profile basics from our authentication provider when you sign in or register.
- Beta interest & email: email address and optional marketing consent timestamp when you submit the beta / newsletter form.
- Technical data: standard server and analytics logs (IP address, user agent, approximate location, timestamps) needed for security and operations.
2. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on contract (providing the Services you request), legitimate interests (securing the site, improving the product, fraud prevention), and consent (promotional emails—only if you opt in).
3. Marketing communications
We send promotional or product-update email only if you check the consent box on our form or otherwise clearly opt in. You may withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
4. Sharing
We use subprocessors for hosting, authentication, email delivery, and payments (when enabled). They may process data on our instructions and under contractual safeguards. We do not sell your personal information.
5. The LansPilot Studio Recorder Chrome extension
The extension records your screen, webcam, and microphone entirely on your own device using your browser’s built‑in APIs. The recording, its audio processing, and the live caption preview all run locally in the browser — we do not receive, store, or have access to your recordings, audio, or captions. The finished video, audio, and subtitle files are saved directly to your computer’s Downloads folder. The extension’s permissions (screen/tab capture, downloads, local settings storage) are used solely to perform the recording and save the output; none are used to transmit data to us or any third party.
6. Retention
We keep account and transactional records as needed to provide the Services and meet legal obligations. Marketing lists are refreshed on unsubscribe; server logs are rotated on a schedule appropriate to security needs.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. EU/UK residents may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise rights.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required locally). Do not provide child data.
9. International transfers
If we transfer personal data across borders, we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
10. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the Site (for example, to keep you signed in) and, only with your consent, Google Analytics to improve it. No analytics cookies are set until you accept, and you can change your choice at any time. See our Cookie Policy for the full breakdown.
