§01

Platform & distribution

DesktopSHIPPINGWindows 10/11 64-bit. Code-signed NSIS installer; MSI and APPX targets configured. Per-user install, choosable directory, desktop and Start Menu shortcuts. Artifact LansPilot Setup 1.0.0.exe, ~307 MB.
Phone appSHIPPINGAndroid 10 (API 29) minimum, targets API 35. Version 1.0.0. Home screen, onboarding, QR scanner, pro camera screen, on-device teleprompter and subtitle generator.
Interface languagesSHIPPING21 languages: en, he, ar, ru, zh, hi, es, fr, bn, pt, ja, ko, tr, vi, it, de, pl, nl, th, id, uk. Full right-to-left for Hebrew and Arabic. English backfills untranslated keys.
External toolsCAVEATFFmpeg, MPV and Zadig are not bundled. Distribution builds strip them deliberately, because bundling GPLv2 binaries would create source-distribution obligations. An External Tools Setup Wizard downloads them in one click on first run.
Audio engine processSHIPPINGSeparate self-contained .NET 9 sidecar, packaged with the app, connected over a token-authenticated WebSocket.
§02

Connection & pairing

TransportsSHIPPINGUSB via ADB, USB tethering, and Wi-Fi on the local network. Switchable per phone mid-session. Automatic discovery scans both network and USB.
PairingSHIPPINGEncrypted QR pairing, protocol v2, with mutual authentication: both sides pin the other's Ed25519 identity key on first scan, and a 6-digit verification code appears on both screens to detect a machine-in-the-middle at the only moment it is possible. After the first pair there is no more QR.
Session keysSHIPPINGFresh X25519 exchange with HKDF-SHA256 per connection — forward secrecy.
File transferSHIPPINGEach phone generates its own TLS certificate per boot and sends the fingerprint over the encrypted command channel. The desktop accepts the connection only if the certificate matches the pinned fingerprint. Certificate errors are not blanket-ignored.
Concurrent phonesCAVEATThe verified figure is 2. The app probes logical threads, RAM and which encoder succeeded, then sets a quota: Tier 1 (software encoding, or under 8 threads / 8 GiB) → 2. Tier 2 (hardware encoder above minimum) → 3. Tier 3 (discrete ≥12 threads, or integrated ≥16 threads, and ≥16 GiB) → 4. A manual operator override exists, hard ceiling 8. Anything above 2 is a hardware-dependent Beta path.
§03

Phone camera control

Lens & formatSHIPPINGPhysical lens list with megapixels per lens. Presets 1080p/30, 1080p/60, 4K/30. H.264 or HEVC where supported. Front and back switching.
Bitrate presetsSHIPPINGSix: 15 / 25 / 35 / 50 / 75 / 100 Mbps, each labelled Social, YouTube, Cinema or Pro, and each showing an estimated MB per minute.
Manual controlSHIPPINGISO, shutter speed, zoom, focus distance, exposure compensation, AF lock, AWB lock, white-balance presets, flash, stabiliser mode.

Scene presetsSHIPPINGTen: Podcast, Interview, Flat Match, High Key, Low Key, Stage, Product, Beauty, Noir, Vintage. Each sets exposure, white point, focus and framing, not only colour.
Stills & screen-offSHIPPINGTake a photo from the desktop mid-session. Screen-off command to all connected phones, against battery drain and heat.
§04

Recording & sync

Clock reconciliationSHIPPINGNTP-style. Each phone aligns to the desktop over a burst of measurements; the sample with the best round-trip wins. Preferred ≤50 ms, absolute ceiling 500 ms. Drift rate measured continuously, with an alert if the heartbeat stalls.
Acoustic refinementSHIPPINGAfter recording, the phone's own microphone is cross-correlated against the audio-interface recording (GCC-PHAT plus energy-envelope correlation) and the offset corrected. An acoustically verified offset is labelled distinctly from one that is still timestamp arithmetic.
Session structureSHIPPINGVIDEO/ · AUDIO/ · PROXY/ · MERGED/ · THUMBNAILS/ · METADATA/ · session.json
Merge on stopSHIPPINGEach angle gets its own synced MP4 carrying the shared studio audio mix. Mix modes: device mic only, interface only, or all. Audio codec AAC, ALAC or FLAC. This does not produce a grid video — it produces one clean file per angle.
Integrity auditSHIPPINGAutomatic verification of every file on stop, live recording-health reporting, audio-stream gap detection, and rescue of interrupted downloads.
§05

PC-only sources

This PC modeSHIPPINGA dedicated tab on the connection screen: webcam, screen capture, or both synced. No phone required.
WebcamsSHIPPINGTwo independent slots, registered as full session sources — synced and merged like phones.
Screen captureSHIPPINGSpecific monitor or window, with previews of available sources.
Desktop audioSHIPPINGSystem audio captured as its own session source.
Picture-in-pictureSHIPPINGShrinks the app to a small always-on-top panel, so you can watch the camera filming you while you record your screen.
§06

Audio engine

DriversSHIPPINGNAudio with WASAPI and ASIO on Windows, including driver-reported channel names. A PortAudio abstraction layer exists underneath.
Per-channel chainSHIPPINGInput gain → noise gate → compressor (6 dB soft knee) → 3-band EQ, with input and output peak metering and gain-reduction metering. The identical chain runs on live capture and on timeline inserts in the editor, so the sound matches.
Multi-channelSHIPPINGCapture from a multi-channel interface with a specific channel assigned per speaker. Every microphone is also saved as its own file.
Silent-source alertSHIPPINGActive detection of a microphone producing no signal, warned in the UI before the take is wasted.
§07

Teleprompter

Scroll modesSHIPPINGManual, Auto by words per minute, and Voice follow which scrolls to actual speech. Voice follow is marked Beta in-product.
Second monitorSHIPPINGTarget monitor selection, always-on-top, mirror flip for teleprompter glass, countdown before start.
HighlightingSHIPPINGBy line, word or sentence. Adjustable guide-line position, smooth easing, sections with jump-to, variable-speed zones, cue markers.
Script managementCAVEATFolders, content search, auto-start with recording, and full typography settings. Import supports .txt and .md only — no Word or PDF import.
On the phoneSHIPPINGOverlay on the capture screen with adjustable opacity, text size and speed, plus auto-stop recording at end of script.
§08

Transcription & subtitles

Where it runsSHIPPINGEntirely on your machine. No audio leaves the computer.
ModelsSHIPPINGWhisper Tiny, Base, Small, Medium and Large v3 Turbo, downloadable in app, plus a dedicated Hebrew model (ivrit-ai Hebrew Turbo). Tiny, Base and the Silero voice-activity detector are already bundled in the installer.
Streaming STTSHIPPINGStreaming transcription with voice-activity detection, word-level timestamps, speaker diarization and translation.
Subtitle editorSHIPPINGCue list, timeline, waveform view, video player and inspector, with a validation panel flagging standards issues: line length, duration, reading speed.
Smart processingSHIPPINGShot-change detection and snap-cue-to-cut, automatic line breaking by readability rules, split on silence, auto-fix of overlaps and durations, bulk retime, SMPTE ↔ milliseconds conversion.
Export & burn-inSHIPPINGSRT, VTT and ASS, conversion to TTML, and FCPXML subtitle build. Burn-in into the video with preview before running.
§09

Podcast Director

SwitchingSHIPPINGMeasures energy on each microphone and switches camera to the active speaker, with hold, hysteresis and cooldown timings that prevent flapping between cameras.
Directing stylesSHIPPINGConversation, Interview, Debate. Each style also decides how long one head may stay on screen and how fast to cut wide when people talk over each other.
CrosstalkSHIPPINGA camera can be assigned as the wide shot; the system cuts to it when two people speak at once.
Override & logSHIPPINGHold this angle and resume auto in one press, including from Stream Deck, with a live cut log in the UI.
Programme renderSHIPPINGOn finish the cuts are assembled into a single programme file, with word-boundary snapping from the transcript so a cut never lands mid-syllable.
§10

External control & integrations

Elgato Stream DeckSHIPPINGNative support, around 45 actions: record and chapter marking, camera and lens switching, flash and grid, gain, mute and audio presets, full teleprompter control, gallery, fullscreen, PiP, Director control and opening the editor. Program OutSHIPPINGA clean output window with no UI chrome, capturable by OBS or any broadcast tool, with controllable layout, aspect ratio, resolution and frame rate, and overlays applied.
§11

Live overlays

FramingSHIPPINGGhost Frame — the last frame of a previous take shown translucent, to restore exact framing. Title and action safe zones, composition grid, and platform framing guides for Reels, Shorts and TikTok.
Screen lightSHIPPINGTurns the monitor into a fill-light panel with intensity control.

File organisationSHIPPINGConsistent naming policy, overwrite prevention, session re-indexing and orphan-file detection.
§15

Licensing & activation

ActivationSHIPPINGYou enter a key, the app calls lanspilot.com and receives an Ed25519-signed token bound to a device fingerprint. The token is cached locally and refreshes in a 5-day window before expiry, so the app works offline.
DevicesSHIPPINGEach licence has an activation limit and an expiry date. A device can be deactivated from the customer portal.
TiersCAVEATThere are none. There is one activation gate: the app is open or it is not. No feature is withheld from any licence, so there is no plan comparison to publish. See the pricing page.
